Reviews for Policy Advocacy

The dearth of updated data and information on the current understanding and status of education is a stumbling block to design effective programmes of advocacy. The analysis of information provided by the partner organizations, surfaced several areas which require review for policy advocacy. They are:

  • Teachers (Recruitment, Deployment, Development, Motivation)
  • Parents (Role of the parents, the part played by the parents in the SDS)
  • Supervision (Internal and external supervision of schools)
  • School Based Management (Policy, Practice, Review of programmes, Experimentation)
  • School Based Assessment (Concept, Implementation, Current status and constraints)

However, as the knowledge and information base of the Civil Society Organisations related to such areas, issues and concerns seem to be weak, there is an urgent need to empower them with knowledge and information to undertake advocacy. This made it imperative to review the current knowledge especially on the aforesaid areas. Therefore the Coalition envisages the assignment of the aforesaid reviews for completion during the period from March to May 2007.
